POSITION INFORMATION

The Director of Human Resources works in partnership with executive management and guides the development of the HR strategies that attract, develop, and retain talent. Provides a combination of strong business acumen, human resources, organizational development expertise. As a forward-looking business partner the Director of Human Resources will proactively assess business performance to develop HR solutions that enable business strategies, foster leadership success, and drive the employee experience.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives

  • Implements human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, record retention, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations.

  • Oversees human resources operations such as recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.

  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements advising management ton needed actions.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

  • Develop and maintain relationships within the community, colleges, and other recruiting venues.

  • Performs other duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree and three to five years’ human resource experience, or a master’s degree in human resource management and two years’ experience in the HR field, or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
