Position Title: Firefighter
Salary Information:
Base salary: $48,656.66 annually
Paramedic incentive: Additional $10,000 annually

Department Overview:
The Ocoee Fire Department operates from four strategically located stations to provide rapid response to emergencies. The department is rapidly growing, offering excellent advancement opportunities. It also provides fire protection services to the nearby Town of Windermere.
Area Information:
Ocoee is a diverse city covering 15.5 square miles in West Orange County, Florida, and is part of the Orlando metropolitan area. It is the third largest city in Orange County, with a population of approximately 50,000.
Job Requirements:
Age: Minimum 18 years
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Driver's License: Valid Florida driver's license with no restrictions
Certifications Required:
State of Florida Firefighter Minimum Standards Certification
State of Florida Paramedic Certification (preferred) or Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVOC)
American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
Preferred Qualifications:
State of Florida Paramedic Certification
Associate or Bachelor's Degree
Hiring Process:
Testing:
Complete CPAT and FireTEAM testing through the National Testing Network (NTN).
Ensure test scores are received by the department before the interview process.
Application Submission:
Submit proof of education, certifications, and licenses.
Complete a required supplemental questionnaire.
Interviews and Evaluations:
Interview process includes a background check, medical evaluation, and voice stress analysis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of firefighting and emergency medical practices
Skill in operating and maintaining fire apparatus and equipment
Ability to perform prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with the public
Essential Functions:
Respond to fire alarms and medical emergencies
Suppress fires using hoses, nozzles, and extinguishers
Perform rescue operations, including victim extrication and medical treatment
Maintain and inspect fire equipment, vehicles, and facilities
Participate in public education and community outreach programs
Physical Requirements:
Tasks involve rigorous physical effort, including lifting and carrying heavy objects (150+ pounds), climbing, and exposure to hazardous environments. Firefighters must wear protective gear and remain vigilant in high-risk situations.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in various indoor and outdoor environments, including hazardous and extreme weather conditions. Firefighters must adhere to safety protocols to prevent injuries and accidents.
