Operational Leadership
- Partner with the Medical Director/Senior DVM to align clinical goals with hospital operations, ensuring a high standard of patient care and service excellence.
- Oversee hospital’s day-to-day operations of 3 practices, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow across all departments.
- Implement policies, procedures and protocols to maintain high standards in patient care, safety, and staff performance.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in all areas of business management including those governing veterinary practices.
Personnel Management & Development
- Collaborate with Operations Director to lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of managers, technicians, assistants, kennel staff, client relations and administrative staff.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development.
- Coordinate oversight of managers with Operations Director with regards to recruiting, onboarding, and continuous development of all support staff, ensuring training programs are maintained and documented, regular performance evaluations.
- Oversee and maintain employee benefits to best attract and keep talent and implement strategies for fostering long-term employee engagement and retention.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage hospital budgets, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and financial stability.
- Ensure all accounts payable are paid in a prompt and timely manner.
- Coordinate inventory and purchases with the Resource Coordinator and practice managers to maximize profitability. Maintain weekly cost of goods budgets and share with managers.
- Analyze financial reports, control expenses, and implement strategies for financial goals.
- Share key performance indicators and budgets with managers monthly to spot problem areas and lead practice profitability.
- Partner with Operations Director to identify opportunities for growth and expansion, including new service offerings and partnerships.
Patient Care & Client Services
- Ensure the highest quality of surgical care is delivered in collaboration with the Medical Director, focusing on patient outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Maintain and improve client services, including communication, follow-up care, and overall customer experience.
- Address escalated client concerns striving to maintain strong, positive relationships with pet owners and the community. Effective communication skills used in leading excellent client services and general problem solving are vital.
- Cultivate and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with community partners and the local technician program with a goal of ensuring open communication, trust, and mutual support in the community.
Strategic Planning & Growth Goals:
- Partner with the Operations Director to develop and execute long-term business and clinical strategies to support the hospital’s growth and sustainability.
- Stay abreast of industry benchmarks and align practices toward most successful paths.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including existing clients, vendors, and the veterinary community, to promote the hospital’s reputation and services.
- Lead regular meetings with practice leaders to set appropriate strategic goals.
- Function as liaison with accountant, attorney, insurance broker and PEO company.
