A lovely private family of six seeks an energetic, good-natured, and highly organized Family/Personal Assistant to support the day-to-day household operations long-term. This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm, with overriding flexibility for longer hours, as needed. The ideal Family Assistant will be comfortable working in a busy kid centric home while assisting the family by successfully managing short and long-term household projects, scheduling appointments, sending and receiving packages, booking travel, running errands, and executing various ad hoc household and administrative tasks as directed by the principals.

In addition, this candidate will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing vendors and service providers and should be comfortable providing organization and inventory management throughout the home. This Family Assistant must possess exceptional communication skills, a professional demeanor, and demonstrate good judgement and emotional intelligence while contributing to the congenial atmosphere of the home. The ideal candidate will be solution-oriented, exceptionally resourceful and quick-thinking, and have a proven track record of managing a busy household efficiently. The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach, operate with common sense, and demonstrate a high-level of proficiency in their work. Additionally, this Family Assistant must work well both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative with a positive “can do” attitude and a “no job is too big or too small” mentality.

Requirements:

  • Strong command of the English language; superb communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Minimum 5+ years related experience working in a similar position(s)
  • Excellent references from current and/or previous employers
  • Exceptional organizational skills and dedication to responsibilities
  • Outstanding problem solver; resourceful and quick-thinking with exceptional management skills
  • Above and beyond attitude with ability to work collaboratively as a team and individually as a self-starter
  • Ability to create and manage orderly systems for household, in collaboration with other team members
  • A strong design sense who is obsessed with organization
  • Superior organization skills and willingness to go above and beyond in all aspects of the job
  • Must be comfortable working in a busy home environment with multiple active children
  • Prior experience working with children is a PLUS
  • Flexibility in scheduling with the willingness to work additional hours as needed
  • Demonstrate high emotional intelligence and the ability to “read a room”
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Professional in both mindset and manor
  • Always work with the utmost discretion and confidentiality, upholding standards/procedures at all times
  • Local to Boston area
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
  • Legally able to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Manage busy calendars and scheduling
  • Oversee inventory for household supplies, supplies for children, and any other household needs
  • Manage, organize, and act as point person on various in-home projects
  • Successfully communicate and collaborate with other staff members (nannies and a chef)
  • Create and execute a detailed household manual
  • Assist with special projects
  • Plan travel with detailed itineraries
  • Occasionally research activities for kids and pick up kids
  • Provide oversight for vendors and onsite service providers
  • Run errands as needed
  • Assist both principals with a wide range of tasks
  • Additional Family Assistant responsibilities as needed and requested by the principals
